Introducing "The Moblies" - First Awards For Mobile Blogging

Maynard, Mass. (PRWEB) November 15, 2007 -- The Moblies, the first awards program to recognize excellence in mobile blogging, will begin in December 2007. Sponsored by Utterz, the Moblies (www.moblies.org) will award 11 cash awards to outstanding mobile blog posts across a variety of categories, including best use of live video, best on-the-spot reporting, best mobile podcast and many others. Full details of the Moblies award program will be announced on December 3, 2007, when the nomination period will begin.

In conjunction with announcing the program, a "preview" Moblie has been awarded for the best live mobile post from the BlogWorld Expo conference held last week in Las Vegas. The prize of $250 was awarded to Drew Bennett, author of the BenSpark (http://www.benspark.com) and WiredKayaker blogs. All BlogWorld attendees were invited to participate and many of their mobile postings from that event can be viewed on the BlogWorld Expo blog at www.blogworldexpo.com/blog/

"Mobile blogging is now a permanent part of my blogging going forward," said Drew Bennett. "I maintain five blogs and online presences on many social networks. Mobile blogging with a service like Utterz allows me to capture a moment instantly and alert everyone following my adventures no matter what platform they are using. And that way any one of those people can immediately engage with me."

"Mobile blogging services like Utterz have opened a whole new world of blogging opportunity and creativity," said Randy Corke, president and co-founder of RPM Communications, the company behind Utterz, a primary sponsor for the Moblies. "The Moblies will help to highlight the people who are using this new mobile medium to its full extent, and we are proud to be a primary sponsor of this new awards program."

For more information, visit the awards site at www.moblies.org and sign up to receive communication about the awards program.

How Blogging Affects Mainstream Marketing
here has been a lot of buzz around blogging lately, and for good reason. Weblogs, or blogs for short, are changing the way people market themselves and their businesses.

What Is Web 2.0, Anyway?
Buzz started back in 2004 at the O'Reilly Media Conference about the Web 2.0. Now, more than three years later, it's one of the most misunderstood terms out there. It's often used to describe social bookmarking sites, interactive forums, and blogs. This is only half right. The problem is, like the web itself, Web 2.0 is an amorphous and ever-changing concept.
