BlogHer Announces Virtual Expansion of BlogHer '07, Already the World's Largest Blogging Conference, to Second Life July
Palo Alto, Calif. (PRWEB) June 20, 2007 -- BlogHer, Inc. (http://blogher.org), the Web's number one guide to women bloggers, is pleased to announce plans to bring its 2007 conference to Second Life (http://www.secondlife.com). BlogHer Second Life will be hosted by Erin Kotecki Vest's Queen of Spain Blog (http://queenofspainblog.com). Besides blogging for Queen of Spain Blog, Erin writes for the Huffington Post, and is also a BlogHer contributing editor, covering politics and news for the community hub at http://blogher.org.
BlogHer Second Life will offer the opportunity to experience the Chicago conference live on a virtual platform, complete with general sessions, audio feeds, and even a virtual cocktail party! Similar to BlogHer '07 in Chicago, the BlogHer Second Life virtual conference will feature an interactive format designed to inspire discussion.
"BlogHer is not just the world's largest conference for bloggers - it's the conference the community built," said BlogHer Co-founder Elisa Camahort. "BlogHer is excited to work with Erin to open our virtual doors to members of our community around the world who aren't able to join us physically in Chicago."
"BlogHer has always been on the cutting edge of social media for women," said Erin Kotecki Vest of Queen of Spain Blog. "It seemed only natural to take my business experience in Second Life and my role as contributing editor for BlogHer, and create an even broader opportunity for my fellow community members."
"BlogHer is committed to providing leadership to women online about exciting new technologies that give us the power to connect with people and issues we care about," said Lisa Stone, BlogHer Co-founder. "When Erin approached us about bringing BlogHer '07 to Second Life, we saw the opportunity as one more way to serve our mission of creating opportunities for women who blog to gain additional exposure, education and community."
BlogHer '07, themed "A World of Difference," will take place July 27-29, 2007 in Chicago. The event will include both general sessions and break-out sessions across a range of topics. On July 29, BlogHer will hold a "BlogHer Open Space" event, where attendees will create the agenda on site in real time.
BlogHer Second Life will take place online in Second Life (download required) on July 27 and 28. The event will include general sessions on a range of topics.
